The Pensions Trust is pleased to announce that it won the ‘Best Administration Provider’ award at the Engaged Investor Awards in July 2015. Other contenders in this category were JLT Employee Benefits and Barnett Waddingham. The award recognised the proactive approach the Trust adopted to the April 2015 budget changes when it:
- contacted all members who were considering retirement before April to tell them that change was happening;
- created a project team to cover the interpretation of the legislation and its impact, the systems that needed to be updated and the communications that needed to be changed; and
- took all staff through a programme to make sure that they were competent in addressing the changes.
In addition to the Best Administration Provider award win, Sarah Smart, Chair of the Trustee Board was crowned Independent Trustee of the Year at the Engaged Investor Awards against some stiff competition from the pensions industry. Sarah received personal congratulations from Steve Webb, the former Pensions Minister.
The Pensions Trust was also a finalist for Best DB Scheme Innovation at the Professional Pensions Pension Scheme of the Year Awards 2015, coming right behind some of the biggest pension schemes in the UK. The Pensions Trust’s submission focussed on the new DB Complete solution and the comprehensive first class services which the Trust offers to underpin the new solution. The overall winner of the category was the Merchant Navy Officers Pension Fund and other finalists included the London Pension Fund Authority and The Railways Pension Scheme.
