After ten years as the Committee Chair, Malcolm MacDonald has decided to step down as both the Committee Chair and as a member of the SHAPS Pensions Committee.
Malcolm dedicated over 24 years to the Scheme on a voluntary basis, joining the Trustee Board of the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA) Retirement & Death Benefits Scheme on 25 April 1991. When the Scheme moved to The Pensions Trust, he continued as a member of the Pensions Committee and was elected as Chair in October 2005.
During Malcolm’s term, defined benefit pension schemes faced many challenges and Malcolm ensured that the protection of the members’ benefits were always at the forefront of Committee’s thinking. The Scheme has grown from providing final salary benefits to offering a full range of defined benefit and defined contribution options to over 10,000 members; and adapted to meet the needs of its members, employers and the current pensions environment.
Both Committee members and officers of The Pensions Trust thank Malcolm for his commitment to the Scheme during his term of office and wish him all the very best in the future.
We now welcome Ken Tudhope as the newly elected Chair. Ken joined the Committee in 2006 when employed as Corporate Services Manager at Atrium Homes. Over his years on the Committee, Ken has attended and represented the Committee at a number of SFHA Finance Conferences and EVH Pensions Seminars.
We look forward to working with Ken to successfully manage the Scheme for the benefit of all beneficiaries – the members and the employers.
