Legislation requires an actuarial valuation to be carried out at least every three years on defined benefit (DB) schemes like SHPS.
The Committee works very closely with the Scheme Actuary during this time to compare the value of the liabilities with the value of the assets to highlight any mismatch and resulting deficit or surplus.
We are currently preparing for the 2017 Valuation, which will value the Scheme as at 30 September 2017.
The valuation as at 30 September 2014 is now complete. A copy of the final valuation report is available on request. The documents below were issued to employers during 2015:
Triennial Actuarial Valuation Preliminary Results Letter (SHPS)
Employer Guidance Notes Actuarial Valuation Benefits Review (SHPS)
Employer Consultation Template (SHPS)
Employer Form of Authority (SHPS)
