Defined Contribution fund factsheets

View our range of Defined Contribution fund factsheets that provide a number of key details on the different retirement dates of our members.

We have a number of options available for members investing their DC pension with us. Our default option for Defined Contribution (DC) members who want to delegate their investment decisions to an Investment Manager is a Target Date Fund (TDF). We have TDF ranges, a default and ethical.

Each Target Date Fund provides a 'glide path' to retirement, aiming for fund growth in the earlier years and moving to more conservative asset allocations in the run up to the 'target date', or planned retirement date. Over the life of the fund, the manager's aim is to outperform inflation so that the fund grows in real terms, and to avoid high levels of risk as the member approaches retirement.

The Ethical Target Date Funds are invested in equity funds which track the FTSE4Good indices*, MSCI World SRI indices* and UK Government bonds (Gilts).

We also have a range of Self-Select Funds for our members who want to be more involved in the allocation of their money. We have seven such funds, each carefully selected and monitored. These 'self-select' options include global equity, property, bond and cash funds as well as an ethical equity fund.

Target Date Funds

Target date funds are managed differently over time, based on the age of the member. Investments are gradually switched from higher risk (and potentially higher growth) funds into lower risk funds, to preserve capital as members approach their planned retirement date.

These companies must be able to demonstrate that they meet a broad range of environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria through their approach to issues such as climate change, water, biodiversity, labour standards, tax transparency and anti-corruption. The funds also exclude some sectors like tobacco and defence.
