Chris Roles was appointed as a Member-Nominated Director in 2022.

In 2022 he stepped down as Managing Director of Age International after ten years in the role. During this time he was a Trustee of the Disasters Emergency Committee, where he also served on the DEC’s Audit and Risk, Membership and Accountability, and Remuneration committees.

Chris was a Trustee of the Age UK Retirement Benefits Scheme for nine years, including three years as Chair from 2018. Prior to his role at Age International, Chris held senior positions at ActionAid and Christian Aid, and was Chief Executive of Y Care International from 2004-2012. During this time, Chris served in a number of trustee and management committee roles.

Chris Studied Modern History and Economics at Oxford, and has an MBA from London Business School.
