Michael Balfour

Mike is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. Having qualified as an accountant, he became an investment manager, initially specialising in emerging market equities.
He became Chief Investment Officer of Edinburgh Fund Managers in 1995. In 2004, he became Chief Executive of Glasgow Investment Managers.
Mike finished his executive career being CIO and subsequently the CEO of Thomas Miller Investment in London. He left Thomas Miller in early 2016 to take up a number of non-executive appointments.
Mike is presently Chairman of Fidelity China Special Situations plc, and a non-executive director and Chairman of the Audit Committees of abrdn Property Income Trust plc and Schroder BSC Social Impact Trust plc.
Mike joined what used to be TPT’s Management Oversight Board in October 2016, and became Non-Executive Director (Chair of TPT Investment Management Limited) in 2023.
